The author is right to highlight the adoption of specific vertical solutions to replace Excel by business as they grow, because "the Excel workflow becomes unwieldy and burdensome". That's because Excel based solutions have t

"But somehow you would assume that an IT recruiter must be interested in the technologies they work with every day, no?" Indeed no. The author is failing to see it from the recruiter's point of view. Recruiting is a sales job

Someone once said 90% of problems go away if ignored. In the 19th century British foreign policy coined a phrase for this approach: "masterly inactivity".

If you enjoyed this I strongly recommend Steven Levy's Hackers [1]. Also Amazon's recent Halt and Catch Fire, which really captures the spirit of the 80s and what we called the micro revolution at the time. [1] https://

In UK local elections last week the UKIP vote collapsed, so one could argue that right wing populism is in retreat. The media narrative is that the Tories have captured that vote since becoming the party of Brexit.

No Excel? It's the most widely used visual, grid based functional programming environment. MS claim more than a billion Office users. Any time one of them edits a formula in Excel they're programming. Would also be nice to see AVS
