Ubuntu removed Tomboy from their default install due to Mono dependency. Tomboy is still a well used and liked application on Linux desktops. Just one example of many great apps "killed" that I am most familiar with.

We don't store Google contacts on disk, so they will disappear with a couple days of account inactivity.

This just hides the sign in modal dialog. Your changes are not saved until you sign in. It's totally awesome that you're poking around in the code :)

I wrote a personal wiki for Linux called Tomboy. I've been working on Hackpad.com lately. It's a realtime wiki based on Etherpad. Pads are private by default, and you can invite people to edit them later. I think it's better than tiddlywiki

Are you kidding me? Facebook just contributed to toppling a dictatorship in Egypt. We are still seeing the rippling effects that this form of social interaction brings to people's lives. I don't think that's boring at all.
