If you send a message to a channel with 5k people in it, would you expect 5k requests to go to the page in a short interval? How would that work with custom unfurl extensions? It’s all proxies and unfurled on the server, once. Anything else

Going by the example in the post, "all unicorns are blue" seems truthy whereas "are any unicorns blue" seems falsey in a world with no unicorns?

It literally just adds the code to the file between the comments. There’s nothing more magic than copy+paste and no runtime component. It’s completely different from a decorator that generates code at runtime ? As in, when the code runs ?

Yea, that’s cool and very possible, but it’s a runtime effect

How would not having the source code be present/pre-generated, and thus needing to generate it at runtime, be an example of a decorator having no runtime effects?

Because it completely misses the point that it’s a lot of work that constricts future paths by forming a public contract that offers effectively no benefit to Spotify at all. Those kids are going to pay for Spotify anyway regardless of if t

I’ve been working on a tool related to this for Database migrations. Most current tooling is similar to this: parse the SQL, find specific statements and highlight “dangerous” locks. But that lacks all context and doesn’t account for chan

Having seen the quality of “critical” macros, excel spreadsheets, and “dev/prod” SMB drives anyone can mess with it’s absolutely clear no regulator gives a fuck.

How does that work with third party CDNs, ipv6, dynamically allocated IPs from services like API gateway/ALBs, edge locations, geographic differences in content serving and the ability to evolve all of those without breaking an explici

Did you expect the frontline chat support staff to reply with a list of IP addresses?

No idea, but it’s worth looking into rather than painting the people doing so as a caricature and celebrating as they are “purged”.

In this world we live in there exists an objective truth to things. "things" in this context can be fuzzy, like if something is "good" or "bad", or they could be physical, like if something is getting "hot

What a strange one-sided debate you’re trying so desperately to have. I suggest re-reading my comment again, but without the “I’m completely triggered by any mention of gender online” glasses that you’re clearly wearing right now.

I dunno. Reality? If I throw a ball, it’s objectively true that it’s position changes?

There is an objective truth to things. Wrapping those things in “political policy recommendations” doesn’t detract from that objective truth. Now you can discuss that objective truth but dismissing it as politically motivated, saying, witho

Slightly related: I recently needed to compare several large databases for schema differences. The output from `pg_dump` isn't very diff-friendly at all, so I built this[1]. It outputs schemas in JSON or text, and ensures a stable sort

> Focus on Enterprise Architects and Marketers What does this mean? Netlify is focusing on enterprise architects? I switched off their platform and onto Cloudflare pages. It’s honestly so much better. Netlify seemed to just… stop.

What would you say the percentage of the total support requests that Stripe receives per day is compared to issues raised on HN?

Sickening is hardly the word for a comms lead of Stripe being the first reply to a post about a customers issue, complete with some informative context and saying they will double check the issue.

I like it this way to be honest. We needed to create a custom controller for Dask clusters consisting of a single scheduler, an auto-scaling set of nodes, an ingress and a myriad of secrets, configmaps and other resources. It wasn’t simple
