Which is strange, since the Mac mini's only value for the last 9 or 10 years has been it's ability to run OS X/macOS. From a purely technical/specs/price standpoint, the mini hasn't been a competitor since 2006

Blog post leaves out an important point: is it easy to get macOS running on that particular model? edit: The mini hasn't competed on a purely specs/price level since, perhaps, its first year or two of existence. There have long be

That might be OP's point, but that ignores the fact that Apple would likely dealing with a much worse PR disaster when millions of users can't plug their phone into literally anything they own without first buying a USB-A cable.

But most people aren't buying an iPhone 7 and a MacBook at the same time, and Apple only had one laptop with USB-C ports until a month after the iPhone's release. An iPhone 7 buyer is far more likely to find a USB-A port to plug i

It wouldn't make any sense to provide a Lightning/USB-C cable instead of Lightning/USB-A. Far more people own laptops with USB-A ports, and far more people never even plug their phones into anything besides their wall charger

As a southerner who's moved to a northern city that expanded before cars blew up in the 50s, I gotta say, I can't ever see myself going back until you can feasibly live without a car. My homecity is now over 600k people, but it&#x

I don't get why they're delaying this. My understanding was that fully disabling ATS would require a justification. That makes sense. It's annoying to have to audit your apps and enumerate the endpoints, but as long as Apple

You can disable that by adding a key to your Info.plist. They mean at the App Store submission point. In January, they were going to start rejecting apps that didn't provide a justification for completely disabling ATS.

I think the touch bar in the new MBPs is evidence Apple really isn't interested in bringing touch to macOS. Given that, I think a giant screen running iOS is less than 4 years away. Related: I don't think macOS is long for this wo

Okay, put a USB-C port on the phone. Now what? Make the other end also USB-C so it plugs into virtually nothing? Also, weren't we talking about the non-phone side in the first place?

I don't get it, are you saying Apple should've shipped 2 Lightning cables in the iPhone 7 box? One that would be useless unless you happened to buy a USB-C MacBook? The iPhone is a device for everybody , and accordingly, it shi

The iPhone 5c was an attempt at a "youth market" that didn't exist, but I'll agree it was cheap for them to make it. However, the iPhone SE had 98% of the guts of the 6S in a smaller package. That's not a cheap or s

So you're saying that it was even less statistically likely (before the release of the new MBPs) that an iPhone owner would have a computer with USB-C exclusively.

I think a look at reddit shows that you can trust crowdsourced news much less than say, the NYT or WaPo. Twitter's a bit different, there are good reporters on the ground who tweet a lot, but Twitter is terrible at actual aggregation.
