That’s is a really nice quote and basically the reason why I don’t feel too bad about Trumps fake news claims. Anyone competent in any subject area reads wildly inaccurate articles all the time.

There a lot of asset packs available for adobe illustrator. It would surprise me if there weren’t biomedical asset packs available. In fact in all likelihood this piece of software probably uses assets created in illustrator. I agree that t

Given that adobe creative cloud subscriptions are something like ~30 euro a month, and adobe illustrator is far better than this program it seems like it is a totally overpriced product

For me it is Miniconda + a list of package requirements. Then you can just create an environment for each project and install new dependencies as you go.

You don’t have to use a virtual base class. You can implement interfaces statically by passing in the implementation as a template parameter.

Life is not fair, by the time you are six the number of distinct words you have heard varies drastically depending on your parents socio-economic status and education. The answer should be to extend the SAT with an IQ test, those are robust

Fun fact: The mossad ran a job ad on facebook a while ago, which involved a sequence of riddles. First discover a server based on some random seeming sequence of characters on an image. Then you had to solve a number of programming puzzles.

I don't think static type checking is a matter of tooling, getting Julia to perform well amounts to either a lot of trust in the compiler (is static type inference for the Julia type system even possible?) or manual type annotations as

Unfortunately most of the tools used in the EDA industry are proprietary and stuck in the 90s. So it is both expensive and pretty painful to use them, although after a while a kind of Stockholm syndrome sets in. In other words you really ne

Well from my point of view, the largest advantage that Swift has over Julia is that it has a pretty nice static type system. If you look at what they did with the Differentiable protocol, then this is precisely what you want from a type sys

Julia compares very unfavourably to both Python and Swift: Slow startup time (unpredictable JIT compiler lag), terrible error messages and stack traces, duck typing misrepresented as type checking. I've tried using it for what it is me

I would say most of the examples you mentioned are actually examples of well implemented libraries, with well named methods and abstractions, rather than DSLs. If you want to imply that a good large codebase is similarly structured into lib
