Thanks for the pointer to cockroachdb. The last I'd checked (over a year ago), FoundationDB was the only reasonable option for distributed ACID transactions, so it's good to see something else with the same goals.

Nooooo!!!! FoundationDB is too special to relegate to the iCloud back-end. There's nothing else quite like it out there that's publicly available, either commercial or open-source. This just set the industry back several years.
