total compensation depends A LOT on when you joined and what the stock has been doing, especially a year after that (typical time RSUs start to vest). A lot of companies had seen their stock more than double, so a 500K grant turns into over

Best Buy often has better prices than Amazon. Since last year I find myself always double-checking the price of anything I want outside Amazon and for big items (e.g. TV, tv stand, etc.) Best Buy is a first choice for sure.

SF is hygiene disaster. I’m 100% with you on this. It is very, very sad what has happened to SF over the last decade :(

while either extreme is bad, I find it much more comfortable in CA vs Germany. Have you ever been in people traffic in subway during rush hours? Throw in flu season on the mix. I’ll take car traffic any day over that. Electric self drivi

no business gives away anything for free. You “pay” for Google searches with you searches/data being sold (and this is mostly a good thing). Alternatively “free stuff” is paid for by being bundled with something you pay for. (2) market

Sadly, international agreement is the only hope because it is a global problem. For example, if California will go 0 emissions tomorrow, it will hardly matter if the rest of the world would remain on the current trajectory.

Can someone please explain why it is well deserved? For example, when I was at MSFT it was very clear why Satya deserved to be the next CEO - for leading and growing the cloud business from irrelevance to a major pillar of MSFT. What about

A recruiter recently emailed me about a startup whose “Series A was backed by Khosla” like it was a good thing! I actually replied to him that this is a show stopper to me. Few years ago I did not join Theranos after looking at their board.

I think the point is that the only effective way to prevent this is to create more lucrative opportunities for people than poaching

yes, I’m Russian and, IMHO, napaleon isn’t that far from hitler. Both were mass murderers who valued a lot of silly things above human life

Surprisingly, even that won’t be enough! Like I commented above - try watching “Spirited Away” via that method .... and you can’t, unless you buy a disk! (and this isn’t the only example)

they don’t have everything (and I regulary buy things from them). Try watching “Spirited Away” there or upcoming “Mandolorian”. Also, what you can watch on Netflix depends on where you are.
