C may not have generic types, but much of the standard library does use generics, just through the unsafe mechanism of `void*`. Likewise, go already includes some generic code (the array type), it's just treated specially.

Not OP, but they mean the standard library, which is the set of functions, objects, and datatypes that come with langauge. That's not really the best way to learn a language, since you'll usually have the documentation at hand if

Purposely funding terrorism does go unpunished, if you're a US ally. This is my point, that our sanctions against Iran have nothing to do with "morality". They are about power.

Indeed. Languages like idris have the `total` keyword that runs a halting checker on functions. Of course, as you mentioned, there are functions that might halt that it can't figure out. But it's pretty darn good.

One thing that I like about these style of games is that they subtract the fiddly parts of programming that I don't find particularly enjoyable: things like dependency management, fiddly environment details, differing compiler versions

You implied they were true (or at least questioned it). I gave my arguments as to why I think they are both false, A) being a lack of evidence, B) imperialism as a more believable explanation with more evidence. Ball is in your court
