OMEMO actually implemented the double-ratchet algorithm developed as part of the Signal Protocol. Signal, in my eyes, is still the benchmark for balance between usability and security. That's fine if you prefer XMPP w/ OMEMO, and

Ah, Electron /sigh. Luckily this is fixed in the latest version (v1.11.0), so if you're a Signal user (you should be!) and you haven't upgraded already, you should upgrade immediately.

You should probably talk to an attorney, but as I understand, Florida isn't a bad state to consider either. It really comes down to cost savings and specific laws, and where you're primarily doing business.

I don't think you fully understand how this works. Bain doesn't get off the hook here with zero losses. In these bankruptcy situations, equity holds (Bain) usually get their equity stake wiped completely. If they had hundreds of m

In OOP, a factory is a pretty common design pattern, and I'm a bit surprised you've never seen it in 15 years of software development... considering it's taught in schools these days. In a nutshell, a factory is a class who&#

Agreed on this front. Github pages is super simple with Jekyll. Literally push to your branch and it's deployed. This seems a bit overkill. Still interesting though.

Good stuff. Came into this thread expecting the top comment to be a know-it-all answer trying to "debunk" the article, as so commonly seen on HN. This is a perfect, well-researched response.

Classic victim blaming. What you say is mostly true, but it completely glosses over the potential issues raised by this post. So what if the author made a mistake about using Freelancer.com? That doesn't change the fact that what Freel

I agree with you, but without getting too political, the people who voted for Trump most likely think he's technically correct as well.

"At least he tells it like it is" right? Forget that he's an asshole about it. Pretty much the same reason everybody voted for Trump.

Just use public final. That is the defacto way to make immutable data classes. Why would a data class need non final fields?

I recommend Kinesis. I was in this same position a nearly couple years ago and Kafka is seriously complicated to manage and run. Kinesis is super simple, 100% managed, and has about the same semantics as Kafka. Also the AWS ecosystem around

Speak for yourself... that's quite the generalization. I'm a programmer, and I care when something doesn't have tests, especially if it's my own code.

I'm with you, and I don't even find this particular example that interesting or accurate. You just re-run the same simulation over and over without any control of the initial or boundary conditions.
