I don’t understand it either. JSON and YAML do not belong in *nix config files. What else will systemd do next? Audio? Kernel functions? Send mail? Read news? Become a web browser?

Agreed rando might just be shorthand for “anyone in the organisation that’s not responsible for production”. However there’s often a substitution for a more acceptable phrase when you relay similar information to management. It’s perfectly

There is a rule of thumb to not ship anything on a Friday. This was a Sunday! And it didn’t seem to have been tested, so where was the Dev/UAT/Prod separation? So many red flags, and I think anyone who has been in development for

I respectably disagree. Here's a paper that you may not have read. https://arxiv.org/pdf/1806.00069.pdf

No. It isn't exactly the same. It shares some features, I grant you, but decoding cats/dogs by welding a classifier to the equivalent of V3/V4 isn't what a mammal does. Furthermore; A "conscious" short term mem

I think your insight is a perfect description of humans authority bias. People love to be told what to do. Even if in the face of overwhelming real world evidence people blindly follow their GPS, and to ignore it can cause a lot of stress.

I disagree with LeCun but you have a good point. Telling you how much uncertainty there is in a result is a useful metric. But it is only part of what is required (by my definition of explainability). My counterpoint is when a model trained

Lack of explainability is not a bug, it's a wholly missing feature. There are a whole set of mathematical functions that are beyond the range of a typical human mind to understand. But there are proofs that exist that explain how they

I challenged LeCun about explain-ability of neural nets a few years ago, he seemed to dismissed the need for it. As I recall his explanation was that the weights & configuration of the neural net is enough to give you an equation which

It's grey because someone in their infinite wisdom downvoted you. Most likely because they'd rather downvote rather than challenge your statement. It's a worrying trend.
