Just be glad that it didn't go the other way with terminals being full HTML 5 and having to watch advert videos between command invocations.

libxo on FreeBSD tries to do this to some extent but a way to turn json back into neat tables is somehow missing (jq isn't great in that regard).

Not quite sure what you mean by being a "believer in defaults"? Bash an zsh both copied sh and ksh (88) fairly faithfully on old features. Where they diverged on newer things, bash nearly always acquired the feature later than zsh

I was viewing this with my sysadmin hat on not from a programmer perspective. So firewalls and OS TCP configuration would be within scope and sometimes you have no choice over the lower level link you have. But yes, I agree that the lesson

You don't necessarily have an option. ssh lets you tunnel with tun/tap interfaces which presumably suffers this problem given that ssh is over TCP. Sometimes you're forced to set something up over whatever link you happen to

This is a really interesting explanation. Is it not somehow possible in to disable retranmission requests in the upper layer, perhaps by using a firewall to block them if the OS doesn't allow it to be configured on the interface.

No it doesn't, convert the case when generating the hash – think of it as part of the hash function. But leave the case unchanged from whatever the user entered for any steps that involve sending an e-mail to the address.

People often forget usernames but not so often e-mails. The e-mail is usually the primary/only means of identifying users anyway so you're not going to provide it back on request anyway.

I don't really think playing a game with hjkl for movement is necessarily all that helpful. Moving around in a more conventional editor can often be done by relying on key repeat and holding down cursors. I still sometimes do that even

One consequence of this is that duplicates of the story keep getting posted. The original based on sharing the President's tweet appears to be this one: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=24659207

The timing does seem rather, um, convenient. Quarantine fully passed in time for the election, get's to show he's one with the voters, perhaps even some sympathy. But gets to skip a tricky debate. And in a couple of weeks he'

When breaking up a tech company, an option that never seems to be considered is to give the products to both child companies. That way they start to compete with each other. Admittedly, only one can have, e.g. the youtube domain or associat

I've written quite a number of shell completions for zsh and the amount of variation in command arguments would require something much more flexible than this basic json specification. This might work fine for listing options and argum

There's a good chance that setting the path-completion style to false will help in this case. That does disable a useful feature - though it is only a useful feature if you know it is there and use it. If not even SIGKILL works, it is

For zsh, you'd be better off handling functions via the function autoloading mechanism rather than defining them all from .zshenv. It is common to create a directory named ~/.zfunc (or similar), add that to $fpath and autoload the

Can't answer that but on a related note, recent zsh fully supports true color. You could always use it in things like prompts with literal escape sequences but it'll also work for syntax highlighting etc and interpret colours in h
