They are entirely different strains when it comes to tomato cultivation at industrial scale. A tomato that ends up in a sauce or frozen never had the option to make it to the store while whole.

Canned tomatoes are also a different variety than what you would buy in a store fresh. Canned tomatoes are bred for a much higher amount of solids and flavor, while fresh has to worry more about color and presentation (I.e. bruising is bad)

Costco also sells in much larger sizes, so while the price may be lower on a per unit basis, you often pay more overall. It’s a trade not everyone wants, e.g. lack of space to store bulk goods in a small apartment. Costco, Target, Amazon, e

Why only cops and not all public sector employees? I don’t see how you can make an argument that police work isn’t work.

I don’t think that’s clear at all. I’ve seen it often repeated by the media, but there is absolutely no evidence to support it. Repeating this is only driving the two sides further apart.

I realize that the situation is different because they were not a true startup, but Waymo was comfortably into the billions of total spending before getting even a single dollar in outside revenue (and they still have almost zero revenue).

I agree with your position and wish to add this quote: "The trouble with fighting for human freedom is that one spends most of one's time defending scoundrels. For it is against scoundrels that oppressive laws are first aimed, and

Our farm purchased several New Zealand asparagus sorting machines back in the 90s and they were quite excellent. They would size the spears by laser, and could do color analysis as well. There was still a significant manual component, but h

Between 1970 and 2013, the % of Americans working in agriculture dropped from 4.4 to 1.5. I’d say we have continued to make excellent progress, it’s just not as sexy as robot fruit pickers.

The risks are to the water table in California. The current rate of ground water depletion is unsustainable. Sorry for being unclear about what avenue I meant by risk.

Almond prices pushed $4 a pound just a couple years ago, and yields can easily exceed 4,000 an acre (I just got 4,100 on a fifth leaf orchard not even in full production). 15,000 is not the norm, but plenty of farmers have gotten that yield

Current price is just under $500 for an acre-foot of water, and you have to buy in increments of 10 acre-feet. If you are unfamiliar with that unit of measurement, it’s pretty much what it sounds like. It’s the amount of water needed to cov

The best rule to follow to avoid getting duplicate numbers is to just not pick them at all. Quick Pick is a common lottery feature that just gives you random numbers, and should give the best odds of choosing a number which no one else has.

As a rule, coercion by offering money will never qualify as entrapment. The courts consider refusing money to be “too easy”, so to speak. An example of entrapment would instead be a threat of prosecution against your child unless you do so
