I think the core problem here is we have someone (Shanley) who is allowed to attack people on the basis of their gender, class, profession, etc. [e.g. https://twitter.com/ryan/status/474791621100199936 ] An exampl

Thanks but 'change some config files' generally means modifying the conf/ tree I import all my configurations from. [e.g. Nginx domain name, requirements.txt] It doesn't mean modifying the Dockerfile.

I do but I have multiple small projects so I can just re-use the container and change some config files. Its basically a build script that is less than 100 lines, generally, so it is really easy to use.

Docker .11 was also Docker RC 1 for 1.0, .12 was RC 2. So I think it may not be accidental.

Yes. It is like configuration management [e.g. Chef, Salt]. It doesn't make sense to do for one off projects [unless you already have it as part of your workflow]. Like, I have a generic Flask container repository that I clone as a st

I use Papertrail but if you want something free...just run Logstash + Kibana + Elastic Search. Running a log shipping agent on every docker instance isn't 'free' but it lets you clearly label and manage your logs nicely.

Not just the next contractor but the lowest bid by a contractor who has ever built a bridge before . Just in case someone doesn't read the article. ;)

I've never really had any trouble getting a taxi to arrive within 15 min of when they said they would. So maybe we just deal with different ones. I'm not in the SF or NY areas.

You can write your plugin for the back end to dump it. It defaults to graphite which would be familiar enough I think.

It is probably true. Cheaper taxi services would cause ppl who drove drunk for financial reasons to hire an uber car. Tbh, I am surprised no city ties liquor licenses to taxi services. (E.g. sell an open container, have a contract with a ta

If operating a taxi was $250k cheaper (the price of a medallion in SF) you get Uber's results. Most of uber's "advantages" stem from the fact taxi medallions get leased for about $1k/month that uber's contracte

Congratulations to everyone and I'm especially looking forward to the TLS implementation for Python so I can dump what I'm using now. :)

Fair enough, but that is part of why they are getting banned and upsetting people. Its also part of their price competitiveness. Their contractors haven't been paying.

Do you honestly think Uber can do that while simultaneously removing per-trip, tax medallions, and other taxi related revenues from the city coffers?

Yes but the market isn't that large and if they can pull it off, so can other people. Even if Uber manages to capture 25% of the market, it isn't going to hit $170B market cap.

I am sure they will be able to exert pressure from their investor community on the political community. I'm pretty sure $1.2 billion in VC money is as valuable than all of those VCs exerting political pressure to keep them in markets.
