Sure it's hard to design GMOs, but testing their safety is much easier: feed the GMO to some lab rats and see what happens. Or am I missing something?

If you want me to believe GMOs are harmful, you need a better argument than "biology is hard." Sorry if that comes off as harsh. I'll admit that the misuse of genetic modification could have big consequences, but the regulati

By that logic you can assume anything is true. It is certainly _possible_ that GMOs are harmful, but without any evidence you have nothing to go on. I could use your exact same argument to argue against evolution or gravity.

Two pieces of feedback: First, at the end of this I'm still rather confused about what molds are for, and it's implied that all will be explained in the next chapter. This is a tutorial, not the next great American novel: do not e

I have no idea about the OP's system, but I can see some advantages to breaking components up across a network, at least for vertical scaling. First is that server prices do not scale linearly: four 10-core machines will generally be c

Our current evolutionary situation is not completely without precedent. A somewhat similar case is the birds of paradise. These birds have virtually no natural predators and need to only forage a few hours a day for food. With few other f

I still don't understand why this thing was chosen to be the basis for all of Urbit. What advantages do you get from building on top of Nock vs. lambda calculus or SKI combinators or anything else?

Nock just seems deliberately obtuse. The website boasts that "Nock is also the easiest thing in the world to learn" and that the spec "gzips to 340 bytes", but I can't seem to make heads or tails of it. Sure, you ca

there's a balance there: people are less likely to tip if they are driving dangerously as well. Of course, this is all assuming people's tips are really based on better service. I'm sure tips are like that in some cases, but

All you're arguing is that very bad legal systems are about as bad as a vigilante system, which I agree with. The solution should be to try and reform the legal system, as a vigilante system will never be viable. Even in the interim, i

I trust the legal system a hell of a lot more than a lynch mob. In court, I get representation and evidence is considered in a rational and impartial way. The legal system is not perfect, but its way better than being subject to the whims o

If you're dead set on using JSON, note that RAML seems to be a subset of YAML, which can be easily converted to JSON. You could do that on the server side, or just use one of the many YAML parsers written in javascript on the client si
