I guess this is like a dunk and I shouldn't even respond, but I'd probably (from less) do /nick.*http and then hit n or N a bunch to jump around. Yeah, it's technically a regex, I guess, but I think it's probably th

I still use IRC, irssi in particular. My go-to for searching local logs is `less` rather than grep. I have the date on every line in the log file. I can jump to a specific date easily, then search a different term up/down from that spo

I have over a dozen people I regularly talk to on Matrix, though I prefer to not use browser/electron apps, so I only use Element on my phone (separate codebase from other Element), and Nheko on my PC. FluffyChat on Android also seems

Haven't the Max/Ultra type chips always come much later, close to when the next number of standard chips came out? M2 Max was not available when M2 launched, for example.

At this point, like with many things, you'll have to go model by model and not trust a whole company to do something right. I have several of the Netgear R6220 router running OpenWrt, but Netgear as a whole tends to not have OpenWrt

While they seem different, they can be used in similar ways. Sorta like how Delta Chat turns email into something like IMs with a conversation view. It's all passing around text/media at the end of the day.

I would highly recommend the "foot" terminal if you are on Wayland and can use it. I used urxvt, termite, and briefly alacritty in the past.

Yes, you're correct on both counts. You can add non-default channels and get a different kernel if you so desire. Personally I have stuck to the defaults.

Gentoo can do systemd or OpenRC, but I think systemd is default. I would recommend Guix System if you don't want systemd, as it uses GNU Shepherd instead.

Stuff like this is fairly common. Drivers for the Wiimote and other Nintendo controllers were not put in the kernel by Nintendo employees or with their blessing. Sometimes you want something to work and the only way is to handle it yourself

This sounds like tmux-resurrect and not a built-in feature. Similarly, C-a is the default GNU screen prefix, C-b is the default prefix for tmux (though this is a fairly common rebind for people who wanted it to work more like screen).

The trick is to only buy ones with ROCKNIX support and ignore the rest, no matter how good they sound on paper or how cool the design is. Pretty similar to getting a phone with LineageOS support or router with OpenWrt support, so I managed

Low power device to leave on all the time, particularly for people who don't leave their clients on all the time. Like a router, but more versatile (although with a better OS on it, an actual router may do the same job).
