You have to just remind yourself what signals come in during a crisis (esp new kinds people aren't trained for) takes a while to make sense off. Nothing will make sense initially. Even for decision makers up and down the hierarchy. Mos

It works well when subject matter experts exist in the org and collaborate/supervise/drive data folk, to solve some issue the sme's have spent enough of their own time thinking about. If its just data folk by themselves getti

This is damn cool. I think this was the strategy S.Korea used to handle sudden surge at any one location - "Regions shared doctors and opened their hospitals to each other’s patients" An app like this would have prevented all thos

It's all political rhetoric prepping people for the worst case at a time when few things were known. Things change. The situation is extremely dynamic not static. And response will change too. Germany is already thinking of scaling bac

That's pretty much what Trump and his team say too. It's all PR to me, until they are standing next to their product, in use, saving lives.

Free PR nothing else (and nothing wrong with that). Those engineers didn't call up the marketing/pr dept and ask for a professional video crew to show up - "cause we just want to share an update with the world".

Too complex for our 7 inch diameter heads. Enough data has accumulated in the last 20 years about our cognitive limitations. Which seem to compound as we construct groups and networks. So "spreading freedom" fails, mass leaking in

Apparently the right way to do it is to show Daily Total deaths (ALL deaths not just covid) per local region Vs daily historic total deaths of that region - so some kind of Excess Death indicator. And that shows pandemic effect rising and f

I doubt there is any right/wrong answer here. If one delivery guy gets it and is busy driving around neighborhoods asymptomatic for weeks the delivery would cause spread. If one grocer gets it and is busy running his store asymptomatic
