Lennart worked at Red Hat when he was developing systemd. Red Hat's largest customers often have wacky, weird requirements that you would have never thought of unless you were in that specific customer's situation.

I like systemd too. After working with it for a long time, a lot of the "wtf" moments eventually are made clear as having at least some semblance of a good reason behind the decision. 1. systemctl is the controller. Its job is to

For profit water companies are common. Municipalities do not have the capital to replace infrastructure, so private companies like American Water buy the pipes and plants, make the minimum fixes, and jack up rates to pay back investors.

Writing labs exist. What’s the existence of tutoring and assistance have to do with anything?

The MAGA types on the US East Coart have glommed into the anti windmill fervor claiming offshore wind will destroy their view and somehow it hurts whales.

I suppose it’s a difference of viewpoint, but I understand what you’re getting at. Thanks for explaining it. I wouldn’t consider locking a mortgage at 6% and then having rates rise in the interim as a discount, maybe a lucky break!

How is $4 off the closing price not a discount?

The point isn't that businesses are closing profitable stores, but the stores are unprofitable for reasons other than shrinkage. You're being fed a narrative about crime. Why? Who benefits? > Finally, corporate claims are not h

> just let people steal with impunity until they decide the costs are too high, and they have to close the store entirely Has this actually happened? Or are the chain pharmacies using “shrinkage” as a scapegoat for other deficiencies? I

The evidence shows this claim is incorrect. COVID-19 vaccines provide measurable protection for children, including ages 6 months to 2 years, by reducing emergency visits and hospitalizations. Infants under 6 months, who cannot be vaccinate

I loved TD3 as much as I loved stunts. I never thought it was fundamentally broken, but as a 10ish year old kid, you take what you can get.

I loved stunts as a kid, I remember sharing tracks with a friend, and making up all kinds of stories and scenarios in those tracks. Excellent game, excellent write up. Happy to see the game still has a community.

I had some momentary readings lower than 80 during a sleep study prior to going on CPAP. I didn't snore, or choke, or anything. Just ... didn't breathe. With CPAP, 98% all the time.

As far as I can tell, you clear security the normal way at your origin airport, and enter inside security at the intermediate hop. Not a terrible way to travel, I think. With taxi time and delays at EWR, it might not even be that much slowe

I'm unable to use anything but GPT-5, and the response I've gotten don't nearly consider my past history. Projects don't work at all. I cancelled my Plus subscription, not that OpenAI cares.

“Latinate” vs “Saxon” is a word-origin story, not two languages. etymology doesn’t equal meaning. His pairs aren’t true synonyms anyway: “terminate a contract” vs “end a movie,” “encounter errors” vs “meet a friend,” “manufacture cars” vs “

I prefer to calm them “Frankensteins”, like: “Look out, there’s a Frankenstein to push into that lake!” But can never resist the Frankenstein’s monster pedantry, I find it hilarious.
