Good! You don’t need a Pi 5. You can still buy Pi 3b, which I use for many things successfully.

I don’t appreciate my kids pictures, but he seems to get some sort of enjoyment out of the act of creation. I think art is based on the intention of the creator and not the viewer.

I guarantee you that issue was not fixed for everyone in 2021, looking at my car without a software update. :)

I don't care about a 50 year old technology philosophy. Times have changed. Cloud computing and the prevalence of highly distributed systems have completely changed how software is deployed, scaled, and managed. These environments ofte

That catastrophic security flaw? That the US Gov't didn't require immobilizers on cars until way too late. Funnily enough, Canada DID require immobilizers, so I think they're not subject to the same BS my car is subject to.

They’re not my principles, and I spent the first 15 years of my career administering real capital U UNIX systems.

I run my home assistant on a nuc that acts as a simple kvm hypervisor and then inside that vm I run HA as a container. It is trivially easy to backup, deploy, move around, restore to a previous state, etc.

I grew up a half mile away from a major IBM office. My friends and I would sneak through the woods and go dumpster diving. We would routinely get 3-4 new in box keyboards, plenty of floppies, even real fancy chairs!

The unicomp Model M I got 15 years or so ago was an absolute dog that felt like a wish.com version of the venerable Model M. It had constant problems and I ended up releasing it into the general computer lab to be destroyed by postdocs.

I love love love love coffee. It took me years to realize that my high blood pressure was controlled almost immediately by cutting out a high-test canned “Draft Latte” drink. I can drink a single 8oz cup every few days. Decaf is fine.
