Usually when people say ISO8601, they mean "2023-07-12T09:20:00Z". But the actual spec, which no one reads because it costs money to access, allows dozens of other variations. (Too many IMHO.) RFC3339 is compatible with "the

In short: No, they are not the same at all. I do not work in this field, but have taken a class or two on biomedical engineering. Some background: Neurons in your brain communicate with adjacent neurons by various chemical signals. But each

TMS involves strapping a very strong electromagnet directly to your head. Field strengths routinely hit 2-3 Tesla, about a million times stronger than the stray EMF from high-voltage transmission lines. https://en.wikipedia.org&#

I've read a few of Franz Kafka's short stories, but most of them went over my head. As someone who loves Factorio, I was legitimately excited to get more insight. Now: My disappointment is immeassurable and my day is ruined.

By "unlicensed" they presumably mean a loose framework for short-range transmissions, like the rules used for ISM bands. The ISM bands at 900 MHz, 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz used for WiFi, Bluetooth, etc. are the best-known examples.

Modern GPUs routinely exceed 5 Tbps in memory bandwidth. (GDDR6X at 20 Gbps per pin, times 256-bit bus width is 5120 Gbps.) The original article unfortunately quotes incorrect units: 224 Gbps (gigabits per second) is NOT the same as 224 GBp

The wireless adapter for the HTC Vive headset was based on WiGig. The range is limited to a few meters, but that's more than enough for room-scale VR. The need for massive bandwidth and low latency make it a perfect use case for WiGig.

Why even use time that's linked to the rotation of our home-planet? That's as geo-centric as it gets. Just count the number of seconds since the GPS epoch in a galaxy-centered inertial frame. This post was made at 1,373,034,914.

I love this analogy. Sometimes it's a perfectly good fence, sometimes it's an invisible spatial anomaly that turns people inside out. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Delay symmetry is a critical assumption in any two-way time transfer process. White Rabbit goes to extreme lengths to maintain that property. This includes mandating use of cables that share a single optical fiber, with specific wavelength

It's worth noting that you can use Ethernet without a full IP stack. Protocols like CoAP are specifically designed to run on a UDP-only stack (ARP/ICMP/IP/UDP) to save on code-space for tiny microcontrollers. If you on

This exactly. The radio has the encryption; the LAN doesn't really need it. If you send a robot to wiretap the satellite then we're in trouble, but that's true regardless.

IP over CAN is fine, but the useful throughput is limited. Overhead is very high because the frames are so short--64 useful bits in every 108-bit frame--so you end up repeating the headers many times. That limits effective throughput to a
