Then we have a huge surplus of energy during the day and a huge deficit at night. What then?

I don't think that makes sense unless you are particularly apathetic. Like sure, neither of the major parties in America matches all of my opinions exactly but I still have strong opinions on a number of things, and they tend to align

I think there's an argument to be made that informed consent can't be given by someone who doesn't understand the underlying science, which is virtually everyone.

I mean more likely the OP is just being edgy and is only performatively apathetic at a surface level, but the only thing we have to go off of are their words, which do point to some deeper problem.

Do you honestly not understand what an outrageous comment this is?

I think your perspective is different because you're probably more senior than I am. I feel like I benefit a lot from listening to the more senior development on my team and by listening to my boss reason about the decisions he's

I'm not talking about the "big picture" on the scale of the entire company, but more just my team and possibly the 2 or 3 teams we work most closely with. If half the team is wfh it just seems like those in the office will be

I literally just don't believe that this is a real problem. Old school laptop batteries were large, but how much of that is really needed? In theory you could add a connector and be 90% of the way there. Put a panel on attached with a

They can literally stop the network though by perpetrating their own attacks. Even if the bitcoin network is perfectly secure to a subtle cyber attack in the vein of stuxnet, all the US or any major power would need to do is bring the minin

Are you implying that fractional reserve banking is only as old as the federal reserve act?

A 90 minute commute? No wonder you prefer remote work...

Isn't that itself a problem though? My issue with remote working is it feels more like I'm a code factory that doesn't get to have input on big picture/design stuff very often. Maybe some people like that though...

If NY really wants to cut e-waste they should require removable batteries in cellphones and laptops. The move to non-removable batteries always seemed like a thinly veild money grab to me.

I don't think narrow AI is really capable of much of that. On the other hand if strong/general AI pops into existence we're at a singularity point anyway.

I mean I think it's reasonable to expect that brains function in an evolved way that should minimize energy use when not outweighed by some other benefit. I think it's very valid to wonder what the benefit is for 90% or more of th

This all seems like minor differences. Plenty of software is neither written nor comprehensible I can assure you of that. Like I don't think your necessarily wrong, but pointing out the literal differences between the two topics doesn&

In my experience a lot of cops signed up for guns blazing action movie shit and are very reluctant to do their real job, which is mostly paperwork.

Actually conduction is radiation at the atomic level. If you bring either point up in a conversation which is understood to be about macroscopic physics though you're really just being an ass.

The insane claims, the failure to provide any proof despite the ease of doing so and the email address at the end tells me this is a scam artist fishing for gullible marks.

This would explain why Fourier ended The Analytical Theory of Heat with his famous afterword: "and don't even think about using any of this if you haven't internalized it as well as I have you fucking idiot."

So you got through 2 or 3 years of calculus at least a year of abstract algebra and probably 2 years of linear before you could understand what a Fourier transform was? Color me skeptical
