Off-topic, but the article looks so much like an Onion piece. Especially the photo at the top which has a similar quality.

Did you see the following post? I can't prove the underlying issue caused this issue but I'd wager it's likely. And I'd wager they ARE prioritizing this. https://github.blog/2022-03-23-an-update-on-rece

How do these kinds of negative Stripe stories keep coming? It's like there's a new one every month with a massive loss of profit followed by the support team not responding. (That is, until the Hacker News support team shows up.)

I guess they do not think of those as "ads" but more like suggestions, or tips to the user. (Not defending it, they would be clearly doing mental gymnastics if that were the case -- they absolutely are ads.) If they said the wor

+1. I had the same experience joining Microsoft. I wasn't super thrilled by Azure at first, but was surprised by how much functionality it had. Fast forward a couple years later, I moved to another big tech company using Github instead

Of course it looks silly in this context, since the Ukraine invasion is going on. However, in general, don't forget that in some cases there are maintainers who forget, or don't have time, or fix the issue BUT forgot to post an

I recommend against one question in particular: > Do you have a favorite part of the job? Least favorite? When I asked the "least favorite" question in my interviews a few months ago, the answers all fell into 2 buckets: 1) it&

Fist bump to quitting early. I am leaving a company after only 3 months (Edit-- I also will not plan on working for several more months!). My parents (both in their 50's, who are used to the idea of working all the way from 22 to 65 ye

Most comments here are not mentioning TFA, but I wanted to point out this line: > Their security teams are trying to discover what all he downloaded, if they’ll be able to get their equipment back, is John really his real name, etc. !!

This piece reads like a celebrity drama article. It's so much back and forth between Loeb and his detractors, plus fitting in plenty of colorful emotions like "his anger boiled over..." Not much intellectual stimulation here.

Would have been interesting to hear what the feeling was like 2 weeks later (ie lethargic? walking alright? breathing well?) TFA only says he's alive "with his new heart beating soundly", which could mean a lot of things.

I meant to emphasize frequency, not eval period. Apologies. That said I took a look at the pricing docs and didnt see frequency mentioned, so hopefully I am in the wrong about the price. As an aside, their (Azure's) pricing docs are wr

It is worth mentioning that the alert itself costs money. So if you're evaluating the alert every 5 minutes on the past 24h of data it can burn a small but surprising amount of money. From TFA it looks like that would be 10 cents per &
