Good point - I want to know how long Washington or London would wait before wiping off whichever opponent was sending missiles at them.

The article is about defensive technology, hence it doesn't mention the casualties on the other side. Arabs also have a way to prevent missiles raining on them - by not lobbing missiles at Israel.

I guess professionals will still say say that submarine 'goes' so it's more correct. But both are used - google results are 25% higher for 'goes' vs 'swims'.

It's one of these things that many people may not actually know (like how a ship in english is referred to as a 'she').

Aren't those taxes passed to the fliers already? Ie for me the cost of tax usually exceeds the cost of the actual flight ticket.

The word homophobe implies that his views were more extreme toward homosexuals than majority of his class - which is simply untrue. If you want, you could say 'his views, while progressive at the time, would be considered homophobic by

Do you actually know how Nabokov's homophobia was manifested? Ie your Nazi relative (if he subscribed to the Nazi doctrine) believed that Jews should be physically exterminated. Slave owners actually owned slaves (although in Africa sl

Are you an insectophobe because you crush bugs? No - because our society doesn't have this concept. By the same token, it's not correct to label Nabokov to label a homophobe for not sharing progressive attitudes of a society that

Very interesting article, but I do take exception to this sentence "Vladimir was a confirmed homophobe, and his gay brother was a constant source of shame, confusion and regret to him." It's a typical projection of moral stan

The point of the article is that the sale would happen regardless of the ad. Ie showing an ad on Google to someone who types 'Ebay' in the search string is a waste of money - since Ebay shows up as the first natural result anyways

Your point lacks credibility because the one link you cite is nothing but a Kremlin mouthpiece. Ie it's painfully blatant & appears to be written by RT staffers.

I think the Slate author is wrong and it's very easy to prove that by considering the performance of immigrant blacks in America vs native blacks. Since both groups consist of people of same race, the disparity in outcomes must have so

What do you think the 99th percentile of SAT scores look like race-wise? Before decrying lack of diversity in field X, demonstrate presence of one in the pool of qualified candidates.

Successful tech companies have to be staffed by very smart nerds. So at the end of the day their pool of candidates is that group. So the numbers you see are reflective of the people who make up that pool. If you want to see more X in it -
