Why exactly wasn’t it working for US? The country with most wealth by like every measure? It’s not enough?

I dont get it. VAT is end customer tax applied exactly once. The rebates exist so importers, suppliers, resellers, shops dont pay VAT multiple times. This applies to every product local or imported. With special case of digital goods this

Sometime in 2024 Forgejo became hard fork no longer merging Gitea code so both projects slowly diverge. But i think momentum is on Forgejo side. Codeberg is popular and development seems to be stable and solid.

It's also way easier than Gitlab to selfhost. Been running it for some time on small office NAS and it's solid.

Maybe Rubio is not the most trustful source... i mean i said it before. They probably can't really get to US citizens. But they can take away peoples VISA on a whim. The reason is to send a message.

Sorry it wasnt clear but that was my attempt at pure sarcasm. I thought the situation is absolutely nonsensical. Being able to disagree with anyone is part of our social fabric. Once you ban that then wild stuff starts to happen.

Because you cannot arrest US citizen just because they are at some gathering. You cant do that to someone on VISA. What you can do is take someones VISA on basis of small gathering that you call protest.

You can only protest the things that will not make it a crime. Protesting criminally is a crime.

The crime is writing the op-ed. The group are the editors and other writers. They cannot be arrested - they dont have VISAs because they are US citizens.

That's very true. But thats tale old as free software. It doesn't immediately mean they have bad UX but it surely doesn't help.

Did we read the same thing? There is nothing about color of chat bubble but there is "they all use WhatsApp". No they don't. Not all. More like half.

If by most you mean 50% then sure. But the other 50% countries prefer to use different app. Be it Facebook Messenger or Telegram... In my eu country nobody has WhatsApp and its not uncommon. Network effects are at play so it's what bec

Sorry but how that invalidates that in my country nobody uses WhatsApp? It doesn't matter at all if they are on Android or iOS. And since iMessages are seamless they are used very often between iOS users.

I didnt say this is so prevalent. Just that it exists. My experience from few european countries is that middle class - tech/business/law people have iOS. Go to tech or business conference and its all iphones. So its really easy t

I think its more issue of not knowing how (efficiently). Consistent UX and polished UI is often about saying no to many ideas and people. This requires someone calling the shots which is hard for community projects. FreeCAD btw got way bett

Darktable pretty messed up ux thanks to mismanagement, lack of direction and hobby programmers that often leave the project. (there is even someone trying to fix it with a fork https://https://ansel.photos/ ).

It is? It has no timeline or automation. Mixx is Tractor alternative. DJ Studio is more like simplified DAW aimed at making mixes/prep for DJing.

Not true at all. This effect is pretty common in countries outside of US. It makes sense. WhatsApp is just another messaging app thats popular depending on a local whim. Where as iMessages get sent automatically between iOS users.

It didnt use to be open-source. Its closely tied to MS which can do whatever about it. It will always have better support on MS and Azure. It still MS stack and if you want to get out of that you have bazilion better more free options.

I dont think you realize how small scale majority of EU gov software has to be. When you have country with population under 10mil and your gov form is used by 10% of those people a year… Thats 80k submissions a month, split by 20 workdays =
