    It's becoming harder to evaluate the guarantees of the most recent so called "cloud-scale" databases, Spanner or CockroachDB for instance. Is there anything out there like a standard benchmark to compare these offerings more

    Scary. I assume these cannot be attributed to some weather cycle the Earth goes through. I'm wondering though, would it be possible to correlate these anomalies with some other metrics? Say for example human produced CO2?
