I think your article would benefit from making this piont clearer. There's been discussions on HN before about how performance of Apple software on Windows differs greatly compared with performance of Apple software on Apple OSes.

I can't tell if this is sarcastic. But before I read this post I was going to say how much I love Firefox but regret how they fail to address bugs before implementing new features. 800,000 bugs is nothing to be proud of.

I agree partly with this but it fails to take competition into account.

You can use JS to tell how far the page has scrolled and therefore if an advert below the fold has been seen. They already do this on this particular site to only load images as they are needed.

This doesn’t actually refute your concerns but we’re also in a time with more amateur authors than ever with a lot of them unable or disinterested in making their points succinctly.

Someone else could do this right now. That could be a reasonable startup idea. I’m not experienced enough to know but this seems like it could be in the ballpark of sounding like a bad idea but not being (akin to what PG describes in his bl

The pharmaceuticals industry could never have grown so big without patents. That kind of drug research would have had to been done by publicly-funded bodies, such as universities. I kind of feel like this is an argument in favor of this art
