The most useful piece of information in this article, to me, was the concept of 'commitment mechanism'.

The time I sometimes lose reading HN pays off when I find stuff like this. BTW the type heuristics is good enough to look inside of files to determine the type: doing 'ack --python pattern' WILL DO look into python files that have no extens

In the summer I used to procrastinate through a lot of time here, on Hacker News. Now I'm coming back mostly only during my semi-free time (but like everyone I probably have better stuff to do). And the first thing I see here is an article

There's a sample image below which it says "First results, 83 lines of code." Is that the total number of source lines in that version of the raytracer? Wow! I mean, the sample doesn't look especially beautiful, but 83!! WOW!!

Isn't it unfair to say that they raised "$8 million on a PowerPoint like it’s 1999"? It definitely was harder otherwise SetJam could create something in PowerPoint too.

Eh, then how come America has become more fat in the last 30 years? Do the genes degenerate that fast? The article is so bad that I suspect the author is trying to score with a fat chick and published this to make her feel better or somethi

For me the blog displays as dark text on dark background (I have a pretty bad laptop screen, perhaps it's ok on desktop lcds). And he is complaining about the exact same thing done by someone else ;-) It's a good summary though.

Nice stories. I don't understand how exactly the solution for 'All Signs Point to "No-No"' works. He says he packs the controller id into the pointer slot, allright, but doesn't he also say that the framework will free() the pointer later?
