Very impressive work! Funny thing though, I recently implemented a zoomable line chart with D3.js, and I also use double click to reset the zoom :)

There is no such thing that raw/vanilla js is unmaintable, what is unmaintainable is stuff that breaks regulary and vanilla/raw js never(almost?) breaks.

I use the levenshtein distance for NLP data cleaning/spell correction. I also use a bloom filter that can validate if the word does not exists in my corpus, so I don't have to run the algorithm for every word.

On Ebay you can grab a Dell R210 II with 1240v2 CPU for 150-200 USD, it is quiet, idles at 20 watt, 80 watt at full load and plenty of power. If you need more cores, the Xeon D is another great alternative but costs a lot more.

Yes one time, I joined a startup that was 3 months old that had used MySQL, a lot of the queries had manual joins that could be solved with CTE/recursion. We also had good use for function indexes, partial indexes, materialized views.

I got a PS4 for last christmas with The Last of Us. What a game, really good story telling. The game is over 5 years old and even today with a lot of great games, this is one of my all time favorites ever.

You really do not want RJ45 / 10GBase-T for higher network speeds. They consume A LOT more power and has significantly higher latency than SFP+/SFP28 and fiber cables. I have a Brocade ICX 6450 with 4 10G ports in my homelab, repl

Me and an earlier colleague had the same fight, that he could rewrite my 10000 lines of vanilla JavaScript code for interactive UI with less code and less bugs if it was written in React. The React infrastructure ended up with more than 100

I don't understand how Groovy is fading away when it is getting more and more popular. Groovy is also very similar to Java. There is no learning curve, you are immediately creating value.
