If users have to sign up (create an account) in the traditional flow, I think this is dead in the water :/

Yeah the files were like html files that had image links inside them if I remember correctly. But even those links didn’t work right. This is because of a change they made. I was absolutely distraught tbh. The feeling of being at the mercy

Yeah cobox rules. Especially the functionality to seed data that you don’t have access to. Their documentation is super nice too.

Takeout no longer includes actual image files. Either that or it broke for me. Someone recommended the github project called Timeliner to help me get the photos though. I just haven’t tried it yet.

The difference is that people on Twitter are chasing a real commodity called clout. Never underestimate what people are willing to do for clout. In comparison, 8chan was downright comfy.

It only works on Apple devices. I use an iPhone but also a Windows PC. It’s extremely simple to not consider Apple Music if you don’t have all Apple devices. I hate that ultimatum of “use ONLY our products or have a subpar experience.”

I don’t remember the exact quote, but I think it was Fr Seraphim Rose that said Russian people don’t know what the word “fun” is. They don’t understand “fun” as a general sense or feeling of ease / levity. I don’t know if this is accur

I think Activity Pub would work well if the federation servers were run by real towns / cities / states. One of the things that I like about Movim[1] is that the servers that are currently running it are literally just named after

If it really was a few bucks per month, I would consider it. Frankly though, I think you’d be hard pressed to find someone that thinks their random thoughts are worth $8 USD per month.
