True, but net neutrality is also broadly popular. Granted, they won't lose any votes but I know several staunch conservatives who are pissed about losing NN. I don't know if they are pissed enough to change their voting habits tho

I'm having trouble finding it now, but didn't the FCC overturn the rule that says ISP's have to sell bandwidth to other ISP's? If they do not, or they are able to make it to where they do not have to, they could pretty e

Do you have a source to a link between the content industry and anti-NN? I assume there is more to it than just "they have a lot more money".

Can you go into more detail on your concerns? I feel like fears over AI are greatly exaggerated. In the real world I feel like we've managed to create some pretty impressive suffering and I'm not sure AI would have that big of an

Honestly, I'm realizing that this is just becoming debate club. I'm not going to go down a rabbit hole of point/counterpoint with you any longer. Maybe you enjoy that kind of debate and maybe you are better at it, but that do

I'm not sure why you are being downvoted, that seems accurate to me. In my area when google announced they were going to build out here all the sudden my bandwidth got doubled for no charge and AT&T started pushing their fiber expa

I think its relevant to post that, it does give an idea of the mentality behind the source. Shitpics might be juvenile but after looking at them it is not a bad description.

Not the GP but I'll take a stab at. 1. Bandwidth has increased (slowly, but it has)[0] making streaming more prominent. More people are watching media on mobile devices, meaning less likely to use traditional media delivery services. T

I see this kind of sentiment a lot, and while I can kind of get where it is coming from can you cite some specific examples to back up your skepticism about the government as a regulator? Can you cite any examples where the government was d

FWIW I downvoted you because I don't think that your comment is productive. I agree with your sentiment though, I have no idea what local regulations supposedly have caused there to be little or not competition in internet providers. M

You make a good point that I haven't really thought of (in quite that way). Anonymity used to be really fun on the internet in the early days for me, meeting strangers, playing games or whatever. Now so much is tied to us directly an

I don't know why you got downvoted, you aren't saying that people have to be ideologues or be obnoxious. Politics is how problems get solved because politics is how society communicates on issues, it may not be working right but

Is it our system of government though that is the problem? There are problems that allow the GOP to have a disproportionate level of control but overall they've been very consistent on consumer protections (being against them that is),

Possibly, but how do you handle that many variables and predict the outcome? This seemed to be the point of the TPP, whether it was flawed or not, to set some kind of standards that would allow us to compete on a more level playing field. T
