I dont want the govt to fund any research funding. As a tax payer i did not vote this. I want to decide who i fund or not. It just means, my taxes will not go down. :/

Fair. But for me thats not a distinctor. (Lately, I saw on the internet this video about cars and their suspension in comparison. And it felt like a throwback to the 2000. The one car that goes over the rails like its flying. Been there, do

It is about taste. I still like german car brands. They learn with each iteration. Even the volume knobs returned. Materials are nice. But for sure the other brands are more gimmicky.

So, if no one competed to get ahead of competitors, by making better or cheaper products and to grab the available marketshare, we would just have better and cheaper products without it? Sounds flawed to me.

Yeah, spark was for me the reason to learn spark, as the Java Api was annoying. But i do not like to see switch between java and scala and these days also kotlin. Syntax model switches in my head drive me nuts. :))

The agenda after WW2 was to not allow germany to militarize itself again and to keep the soviets out. Now it seems that germany is allowed to take it's safety in it's own hands again. Maybe there is more trust (western values?), m

We built roads mainly for trucks. Because this infrastructure ensures, that we have food in the supermarkets, material on the construction sites and in worst case, tanks quickly in the areas needed. So if it was me, trucks can use the stree

Interesting. So you would say, if someone has a talent for cooking, specializes himself, becomes a professional, paid by people who enjoy the food, you would be at least sceptical, when it comes to quality? I see paint jobs by people done b

Spring boot is just a tool. People seem to forget and take for granted the knowledge that is hidden there. Sure you can wire everything together yourself, but who does that? It would be such a waste of time. I rather wait these 5 seconds fo

There is no such thing as "energy waste". You just use abundance of energy. It is like throwing money at a problem. If energy is available limitless, why would you care? Lucky americans. Poor germans.

Hm. I am currently using Ubuntu 24.10 and it also has Wayland and gnome as a default, with the nvidia 565 driver. And it is really, really bad. For example, i use chrome and the tabs, man, it takes ages to switch from one tab to another and

But this is past. Each time had its own challenges. For example, i learned so much about how media and partisanship works in the past years. It is so obvious and visible to me now. Maybe others feel the same and thats why an endorsement wou

I think the endorsement was just bad journalism or bad writing and Bezos just did not want to risk it. If such an endorsement would come out in such a divided climate, then i would want it to be excellent. Maybe it was just partisan. Who kn

I do not know. In asia you have heavy usage of scooters. And still you have congestion. Its always about amounts and how traffic can be directed, no matter the mode of transportation.

Yeah, current cities are not built to maintain all possible modes of transportation. And so you had a short interruption of a city favouring bikes and causing all kind of chaos, while everyone else had to suck it up. And so the pendulum swi
