I have one and sometimes I program personal projects on it in Cloud9. (c9.io) I think it's pretty cool, but my actual work requires me to run eclipse and photoshop. Plus it isn't as powerful as I'd like for full-time use. But I'm excited

I like Google and G+, but I think the appropriate place for these updates is in Google Maps. I don't know when I'll be searching for food in G+. Probably not soon. IMO, what really needs to be updated are the Maps pages that look like thi

"Who the hell cares? Take a deep breath of chill the fuck out and don't read so much into things" is the attitude being referred to. It isn't exactly "Hi, you should consider this viewpoint..."

Yes we do, it's in the second paragraph of the article. "The F.C.C. recently closed its 17-month inquiry into the project, Street View, with a finding that Google broke no laws but had obstructed its investigation." Even if we didn't, that'

The public doesn't have the right to know, since no law was broken. The engineer was identified by a "former state investigator [who] spoke on the condition that he not be identified because he was not authorized to speak."

From what I understand, whatever license Java is released under allows for the possibility of another party creating a clean room implementation of the language and releasing it on their own, outside of any control, influence, or fees due t

I think it's important to think about what Google's goals for Android were, and ask whether those were in conflict with getting a Java license. In the trial I read that Sun wanted a lot of "control" over Java on Android with a license. Ca

If Sun didn't want to risk ever feeling this way, they shouldn't have made Java open in the way they did. They purposely made Java so that this kind of thing could happen, and then felt wronged when it actually did.

Browser updates are more than just html/css/javascript functionality updates. For examle, if Google updates the UI of Chrome and they can push it to me now, why not? I don't want to wait, and Google is giving me the option of not waiting.

It seems like everything you're talking about seems very specific to the kind of web work you do. As a professional web developer, I've never had these kinds of problems due to Chrome's or Firefox's rapid release schedules, and I've never

I wouldn't say there's a need for rapid updates; as a user, I just want them. I don't understand why users should be made to wait 6 months to a year for small features that are available now.

Not having a Drive client for Linux (yet) doesn't mean Google as a company does not support Linux at all. For example, Chrome is supported on Linux. We don't know - Drive for Linux may come further down the line. The reality is that a re

@blakeross As a branch of the main Macy's result, yeah. It isn't a natural result itself. If your goal is to browse simply natural results you just look at the primary results. Those do not appear to be different.

I can get behind your first suggestion. Social influence can be huge, and it doesn't require a legal club to beat a company down with. Do you think it's necessarily a bad thing when smaller companies get bought by Google? What you don't m
