I'm incorrect. there's a spec discussed here https://www.gnu.org/software/libc/manual/html_node/Infinity-...

Because representing infinity is not possible outside of symbolic logic and isn’t encodable in floats. I think it is a simple numerical reason and not a deeper computer reason.

Cute names for standard things is one of my software bug bears, i.e. pet peeves, i.e. annoyances. Ruby gems and rust crates and something something beans. It is cute jargon and it annoys me to hide the definition inside a language specific

I have an uneasy feeling logging into a Text Editor vscode and seeing a Microsoft correlated account, work or personal, in the lower left corner. I understand that settings sync or whatever but it’d be preferred to keep to a simple config j

Ok fair point. One such method was an improvement in matrix matrix multiplication in 2022. So I’m sure there is a potential discovery of many efficient numerical algorithms that will be uncovered with machine learning. https://ww

If I could afford it, I’d certainly get a >$2000 queen size mattress in a few years. Nice firm mattresses are expensive. Internet connection and temperature control are not something I’m remotely interested in. A subscription doubly so.

In my opinion, that’s the magic of programming languages. I type a few high level words and characters, then there is a deep stack of interpreting the strings into machine code and returning data and side effects. It is stupid simple as the

You have no idea how many steps, robotics, offsets, material feeds, alignments, tool setup, recipe fixing, materials troubleshooting go into a fab. These are all to run automated processes. You underestimate how difficult it is to sink heat

Ok, arctic sea ice. Ice exists at temperature below 0C or 32F at 1atm AND at system energy levels below the enthalpy of melting for liquid water, or latent heat for this first order phase change. Thermodynamics uses temperature and pressure
