I'm using Jekyll, and it took me roughly 3 nights to get it all up and running. Now looking at Octopress, they've literally done a couple of things I did myself to Jekyll (new post rake task, uploading to production, etc. etc.) So if I'd st

Don't you think that the "A popup/layer on every single page until you sign into facebook" is... a bit too much?

I don't follow the logic in the article. As I read it the author reasons: "+.com is not legal, therefore it's a mistake to buy it". However, by the very fact that they were able to buy it, they have a good reason to buy it (e.g. someone els

Well, they don't use the same (at least on the frontpage): "Bebarang: Online Baby Clothes Rentals" To me that's a missed chance. Rental I think temporary ownership (negative), with Netflix I think "once i'm done, I get rid of it" (positive)

"Patents can be a danger against your company", then going ahead to pool this under another company/pool. Why not make this a non-profit organization, like Apache, etc? That way you ensure the patents pooled are not going to be maliciously

Also, let's keep things in perspective. It took Sony days/weeks (?) to admit the problems with their network. This is a) honest and b) reasonably timely. Wether or not one agrees or disagrees with the actual technical setup of Dropbox is a

Sounds great! But still, I'd love some more information before installing this on production. Thanks anyways for the pointer, hadn't come across them before! Edit: Thanks for that too! :-)

DDoS's have a monetary impact, yes. However, what the parent is saying is that all infrastructure has limits in terms of bandwidth, etc. The point is that it's not the same class of "attack" vs. finding an exploit. The latter is more in lin

Beyond the normal "it should be useful" etc, I find that I'm way more likely to pay for something if the company has a honest human face/startup/etc. My subscription with Pinboard.io fell in that category.
