Thanks for the feedback -- I really should've edited before publishing at 1am!

I have seen this in the corporate environment just as much. It becomes somewhat clear after senior leadership changes: after a few months you will hear others use words that were previously only used by the new incoming leader. It's no

Going to add that to the article; been struggling with this one. I have been seeing multiple different approaches for titles that seem to work.

Wanted to change the typography myself as well, but didn’t want that to be an excuse for not writing. Thanks, the next version of the blog will be simpler!

TIL! Awesome, going to read up on that. I’ve found the “situation” part to be really powerful in my experience. Starting off with an important/relevant ground truth is highly effective.

Thanks! https://github.com/ojilles/jilles.net/commit/fe6010fb208905e... (I do hope I can clear the Google Translate bar of quality. Should have edited before publishing! And taken more of my own advice.)

Ah did not realize this, will be corrected ASAP. Quite sympathetic to the situation of photographers, actually.

Author here: late night writing, wanted to push it out. Was expecting it to be ignored completely on the internet. Editing today — real good feedback here. Thanks!

The best are that have a settings page where they try to give an example. But use a day-of-month =< 12. Like your example. It couldn't have hurt to use and example of "22/05/2020"; then it is still infuriating, b

Wow, the first link brought up ISIS -- in these Covid 19 times, I have not thought about that/them for some time. The global zeitgeist is a real thing!

If anyone at Uber reads this, feel free to get in touch (Go, Java, SRE) if you want to effectively stay in the same building working for a multinational. There's not many roles open at the moment, but here's one: https:/

"How was your experience?" [Great] / [Had issues] So infuriating. And yes it disappears by itself after a while, but no, I do not need that dialog box. Anyone know how to turn that off?

Don't think thats going to fly (pun intended). It's not dissimilar from some of the cruise ships that can't even go into an harbour?

Upvoted. But, I would change this: >> The only safe thing to do is to avoid catching it to >> The only safe thing to do is to avoid spreading it (And this is why young people need to take as much note as older people)

It's also a reflection (or assertion?) that software development largely is a team sport, not an individual one.

Perhaps it’s not the age per se, but the amount of players over time. (Number of car manufacturers >> space companies).

This is my point: printers started off expensive, then lower costs due to manufacturing efficiencies/scale, but then ultimately drop to effectively $0 due to business models shifting. It's a fair assumption to make that a similar

I do not understand why the prices of these have not fallen to $0, in much the same way an inktjet printer has. Or why the TV does not come as a freebie with some kind of (cable, otherwise) content subscription. (Disclaimer: I hate “smart”

Oh I’ve been asking for this for years. I couldn’t believe it didn’t exist. Finally does, thanks for this! Original use case I had was having a long password on one device on screen but needing to enter it on a different one.

Exactly, but most of those I would think of as "debit", albeit electronically. (RFID bank card, apple pay -- all do not route to a line of credit in Europe but to debit/checking accounts).

I wouldn’t necessarily hold bol.com up as the NL example (so many incorrect shipments, thing that take 2 weeks to deliver while labeled as “in stock”, etc). I’d go with Coolblue as the go to example.
