Not just infuriating, but potentially dangerous. If a website uses my audio to play a 100% volume sound without my consent and I had my headphones up high to hear a subtle recording, I might get permanent hearing damage. Every time the conc

If you prefer a narrower view, why not just resize your browser window to be more narrow? Some of us find full-width text more readable, and artificially constrained viewports are not something we can easily resize.

A few lightweight thoughts: * The stock images on the front page are a bit odd. In particular, the vintage-ish B&W images of a person with a knife in a wicker chair and what looks like a group of people standing a an old store. These

I elect to have none, and pay a yearly penalty to the federal government as a result. I earn and save money on my own to cover medical expenses. I view payments to a 3rd party who then bank their business model on my not needing payouts a

Somewhat broken in Chrome on Android. Tapping a button brings up what looks like a weird tooltip that blocks most of the screen. Pretty much unplayable.

Hourly pay. Some weeks I want to work 20 hours. Some I would be willing to do 50. Others, I might want to take off. Hourly is the only way to be fair to you and fair to me. No exclusivity. I'll sign an NDA, but you don't own me. I

I don't think ttytter is true abandonware. Though the website and version number haven't been bumped since 2012, I have noticed a few small changes as reclently as 2014 (since I keep a copy in git). As for fixing things, can'

Now I understand why the produce I get from the grocery store is always so bruised compared to the stuff I get out of my garden. Even the good product moves at quite a clip and is dropped quite harshly, too.

Pedantic: you built a really cool PID-controlled immersion heater, not a "sous vide cooker". Sous vide is the technique of preparing food in a vacuum. Placing food in a zip-top bag and displacing the air out might give you a rea

Soundcloud is my go-to example of bad UI design that has progressively worsened over the years. This, though, would be a step in the right direction! Bigger than their UI problems, though, are their UX problems. I don't care what t

Speaking just as a developer updating code for L-devices, the new scheduling interface almost guarantees an improvement depending on how many apps that sync in the background you have installed. The paradigm went from "wake up every 10

Minor UX issue: on level up, it scrolls the page back to the top, but on my laptop I have to scroll down just a hair to see the whole board. Very annoying.

Similarly, there is already DarkCoin, which can do anonymous(ish) payments via DarkSend. Whitepaper: http://www.darkcoin.io/downloads/DarkcoinWhitepaper.pdf Unlike ZeroCoin, it has actually been built.

I always interpreted it as a commentary on the difference between tool and application. You can both start and stop a wildfire by setting a single bush alight. It takes a fireman to know the difference.

Interesting. I already use an EC2 instance for exactly this (running Debian) and it has been a great way to work. My laptop only needs to be powerful enough to run an ssh client and X server and then the instance does all the heavy liftin

I've seen a similar banner for years when /. links to wiki pages. It is just a template that someone pastes on to warn editors that traffic (and thus edit velocity) will be up for a day or two.
