I am using Signal 50% on the phone and 50% on the desktop and they complement each other well, I don't run into problems. The histories are in sync and the only thing I found annoying so far is the start-up time for the desktop version

I have their not-eReader (a tablet sized e-ink display) and it's really nice. I usually have it connected as secondary monitor to my laptop and placed in a small arm/stand next to it. Often, I read docs like man pages or API docs

I have been using i3 now for many years now and like it a lot. Thank you developers! It's easy to configure and well documented, plus there are many nice extensions (like status bars). With tiling window managers, for me it really is t

Have used it for many talks. Fantastic software. Especially the presenter mode in a separate window is nice.

But how does this work in practice? I don't think I ever had to bribe someone. Is it like "Here these $5 are for you!" or you just forget $5 on the dashboard? I can't really picture these situations.

This seems to be the current list of rules for non EU countries and US states to transfer the driver's license to the German one after six months (linked by ADAC): https://res.cloudinary.com/adacde/image/uploa

Why not use "primary" then? In database terminology primary and replica are quite common for instance.

> URL as the 'global state' Are there still (browser) limits on how long such a URL can be? Would it e.g. be possible to store a text of 50.000 words in the URL alone?

I need to correct myself, this seems to happen also in Germany, but I have never seen the use of grenades so far. In another reply someone posted this video with typical spray canisters and other incidents: https://www.youtube.co

Thanks for the video. Sure and that's terrible and there is a lot to improve, no doubt. But how often does this happen, even in a single protest? Can you find a video where the German police shoots rubber bullets into people's fac

Maybe commonly, but a) we have a pandemic right now and making people cough feels like an absolutely stupid idea and b) what about people with respiratory illnesses, e.g. asthma? You don't think that could play out badly?

Well, then look at how other countries are doing it. The US is really bad with policing.

Not on purpose. I didn't mean to provide a full list, but only a few examples that I feel I can speak about. To be fair, there is a stereotype about French police being more violent than others. But still, I wouldn't expect that t

There are so many countries around the world that do fine without the violence, brutality and military gear the US forces use. I could not imagine images like the ones I see now in the US in countries like Germany, Denmark, Austria, Sweden,

I really like my self-hosted Wallabag for this. There are browser extensions for Firefox and Chromium (and possibly other) and works well on my Android phone and online. It's a nice layout and most websites work well with it. I use it
