Right, it's also unacceptable there. A growing ability for governments to ask "Does any device contain "X" is a threat to privacy.

I have not found any good way to solve this in Go. At least in Rust you can grep for the impl * for <name> Edit: After thinking about it. This only really helps inside a given codebase.

A school curriculum is fundamentally selective in that the set of books included must be very small compared to the whole of books. It doesn’t seem a tragedy to exclude this work from the curriculum while still allowing families that want t

This is going to sound weird but I picked up both Rust and Erlang far faster than Go. Edit: my point isn’t that others shouldn’t enjoy it but it being easy is not universal or to be taken as given.

This was one of my huge struggles with Go before I just out and out gave up. So much 'good' Go code at my office was just CS101 spaghetti.

Go is incredibly hard to read. There's no intentional. Everything from error handling to flow control to business logic all looks exactly the same. On top of that naming conventions and package constraints tend to absurdly long and ver

Go isn't even easy to learn compared to high level languages let alone system language. It is the only language I ever gave up on after 3 months of struggle I concluded I'd rather work with anything else.

Why does the stance of a maintainer on a certain issue matter for the whole software? It’s federated right?

Defer is a bad feature in Go and I'm hesitant to see it spread to other languages. It exists as a hack because error handling in Go is convoluted.

I think Linkdin is largely a productivity trap. There are whole articles out there about how to optimize Linkdin, but I’ve never glanced at it for the 100’s of people I’ve hired over my career.

Regarding variable names I think the correct answer is somewhere in the middle. There's such a thing as too short a variable name, and these days I see it more frequently than I see too verbose a variable name.

After quitting my job in Go everything that isn't Go feels fun and fresh. At the moment Rocket for Rust is a ton of fun, but I think Phoenix for Elixir might take the cake.

This book changed my life. Throughout high-school I hated math because I thought it was just memory work. I ended up going into computer science and then higher maths because of reading this.
