What load of bull. What separates a 'programmer' from a 'Django programmer'? I can't think of any way to make that distinction that isn't logically self-defeating.

In other news, Hitler could have won and the terrorists could have successfully followed up 9/11. I do think this story is noteworthy, not because of the headline, but because it draws attention to the underlying deficiencies of XML cryptog

If you're coming to the chart to see how well a manufacturer supports their products, the current layout is best. If you're trying to understand the history of phone releases and their current state, your suggestion might be best. I prefer

Here's the thing: Device manufacturers / carriers can say "this device will get this upgrade", and then fail to deliver on that upgrade. I wouldn't rely on what they've promised. One of the biggest points that the chart brings out is that b

While iOS 4 provides great accessibility features, it mostly excels in providing support for visually impaired users. As a touch interface, it has certain mobility requirements that Jimmy didn't like. He would have had to mount the phone in

I have a handicapped friend, and we have been trying to get a good smartphone solution working for him. He's currently got an HTC EVO, and as many people have said, Android's voice capabilities are pretty amazing (although Android has a sep

Yeah, awesomeTouch runs some custom Java on top of Linux, although both their hardware and software have most likely evolved since last I saw.. They just did betaSpring, I believe. Also, hail from Lexington!

I don't know if it violates his privacy, but it sure doesn't respect it. Retelling personal moments such as Steve watching his son graduate (while essentially putting words in his mouth) basically makes her a paparazzo.

Honestly, I think the neighborly thing for the author to do is to allow Steve his privacy.

I agree. I just RMA'd some ram that was causing very similar issues to his (kernel panics, random apps crashing, etc). I'd never seen bad memory on OSX, so it was difficult to diagnose (besides the fact that it was a very recent upgrade).

As someone who has a three year old MacBook Pro that doesn't support multiple finger gestures besides scroll and right-click, I will happily be running Snow Leopard for the foreseeable future.

Not to be un-empathetic here, but I'm more intrigued by the exploit vector than Apple's initial response to an individual. It's interesting that your account is getting exploited without the password being hacked. Does anyone have more deta

Legally, I think the only issue this runs afoul of is his auctioning of a giftcard. Most giftcards do not allow this; however, most gift cards don't allow you to purchase other giftcards with them either, so Starbucks might not have as stri

Great, you donated $600 to kids who really needed it. Next time you get the desire to do so, I suggest you build your own crowd-sourced donation scheme, or donate your own money. Either way, you won't be leeching off of other peoples' hard

This reads more as an argument against netbooks than an argument for workstations. I don't think anyone really needs convincing that netbooks are dying, but it's not desktops that are killing them. While I agree that the workstation is not

I would say iOS development is more front-loaded in the amount of things you have to learn before you can build even a simple app than it is for web development. The net amount of work might be less in the end (as you say, there are a ton o

They're in the process of building one of these here in Lexington, KY. The link the the video simulation was definitely enlightening. We'll see whether drivers will actually be able to pick up how to navigate it.

So I guess "field testing" is the new beta testing? Google watered down beta by applying it to finished products to the degree that they've had to invent a new term to fill its function.
