“ It did in 10 minutes what would take me several days to learn and cobble together a bad solution.” Another way to look at this is you’re outsourcing your understanding to something that ultimately doesn’t think. This means 2 things: your

I mean I could but I think a better way to get to the heart of this discussion is to ask why you put quotations around supporter when describing the author. Do you think he’s secretly against the tool itself or do you acknowledge that maybe

Hah. Perfect. Then you’ll also agree with my statement about differing levels of acceptance I assume?

Just that blind fanaticism leads to things like constant goal post moving when the product doesn’t live up to the hype. This damages people’s perception of the tool and causes them to be burnt out on it when it isn’t in fact magic. Instead

It’s almost like unrealistic expectations of LLMs driven by those working for companies who have something to gain by labeling any skepticism as “crazy” does significant damage to our perception of it’s usefulness. Believe it or not I agree

Ah the 4D chess move of “Call me a pedophile and say I should be impeached, that’ll help your stock AND my ratings!” All of the razors still apply and I’m confused why we’re so reticent to accept that.

I’m thinking this is just one of those that’s become emotionally invested in defending a certain group for some reason and he’s going to make an argument against anything he perceives as a slight towards them.

No this is the DOGE team that was demanding that none of their access be logged while also requesting access with no limits from any device at any time. All jokes aside I’m confused why some people are responding to valid criticisms of this

I think in your rush to reply you may have not read the summarization. Calm down, cool off, and read it again. The point is that the circumstances of the incident in 2024 are directly related to the how and why of the NYT lawyers request an

No worries. I can’t force understanding on anyone. Here. I had an LLM summarize it for you. A court order now requires OpenAI to retain all user data, including deleted ChatGPT chats, as part of the ongoing copyright lawsuit brought by The

Sure. Without this devolving into a tit for tat then the article explains for those following this conversation why it’s been elevated to a court order and not just an expectation to preserve.

They should include the part where the order is a result of them deleting things they shouldn’t have then. You know, if this isn’t spin. Then again I’m starting to think OpenAI is gathering a cult leader like following where any negative co

I come from the same space and I agree wholeheartedly. My current work also has me working with APIs that aren’t public so no help there either. This has me questioning the level of complexity most people on HN are working at day to day. Fo

I think the issue is the confidence with which it lies to you. A good analogy would be if someone claimed to be a doctor and when I asked if I should eat lead or tin for my health they said “Tin because it’s good for your complexion”.
