Agreed, I like IntelliJ. I said since I never know if a Java shop will make me use eclipse again, I tend to shy away from java. Of course I do have a price, if we're doing 200k up I'll put up with Eclipse

I nothing but great things to say about Flutter, with Firebase( web hosting and NoSQL like DB) you can deploy prototypes extremely fast.

I'd have no problem paying 1500$ for this. As many of us age , EInk feels much better to read.

Given I was going out and meeting tons of people, had 2 partners in 2019 , I guess I'd have a few partners in 2020. That and I love traveling. Considering I actually increase my income during Corona, I can't really complain all th

Good job Apple, I really do love the idea of deprecating the old x64 architecture entirely. It's as if we have decades of legacy code wasting billions of dollars of power per year. I strongly believe within the next decade the vast maj

How are we defining programming. As far as I'm concerned if I can create a small game using Unity, even if I don't really understand what's going on, that is programming. If an intern writes a small Python script to format CS

Same reason contracts pay more than salary. If someone can Doordash, etc, and make more( while arguably dealing with less stress) they'll rationally do that. Or since this is HN, can you automate some of these tasks ?

Would it make more sense to have hyper flexible hours. Say you pay 25$ an hour, but it's only 8 hours a week during peak ? I think with the gig economy young people are used to only working when they want.

LA is uniquely messed up since you need a car as well as paying NYC rent. Cars add an extra 300$ to 700$ a month . Most people just can't afford it so they live very precarious lives.
