It’s good from a technical perspective but not a business perspective. Startups only get a limited amount of time/money investment in order to prove their profitability. “Writing a better version” can come later, when the startup isn’t

I think what you would do is some long-running “index” process where you dynamically generate embeddings for all changes that get made to text in the database. Databases that support searching large amounts of text probably do a way simpler

They stopped supporting this in 2017. Before this, you could do this without any hacks, just a chrome extension called Arc Welder made by Google.

All git operations are several times faster than their SVN counterparts, and git is more storage efficient as well. This becomes especially relevant for larger repositories.

I don't think “colorways” is a particularly demanding experiment as far as Firefox is concerned. Firefox has a built-in theming system, they just created a few more built-in themes that are only available for a limited time. I could pr

One problem with this I can see is that it's quite easy to write a delta that's larger than 4096 tokens minus prompt length (the maximum amount of context gpt-3 can process), and if the delta's so short it's less than th

I would argue that ReCAPTCHA’s still work, at least to some extent. Spamming a form is much easier to do when you don’t have to spin up an entire virtual browser to fill out those form while also paying for the GPU computer necessary to run

Well, it can be. You can still emulate additional hardware with QEMU, and QEMU still has other backends (which it will use if you run a x86-64 OS on ARM macs).

To be fair, crypto as a technology has some merit. I think IPFS and Filecoin (Helium?), count for something more than a Ponzi scheme (as their primary goal is not simply being a store of value). It’s when crypto tries to replace all of fi

Fun fact: if you zoom out a ton, place the bubble machine at the outside edge, and then zoom back in to standard, you get a crap ton of bubbles very quickly
