I guess not, similar as you can compile non-GPL code using gcc. I hope the author could use a more permissive license like MIT or BSD though.

I doubt Github would frown upon this. Github Pages has already been handling a quarter million req/sec. [0] [0]: https://github.com/blog/1992-eight-lessons-learned-hacking-o...

Nice work. Some suggestions: 1. Better to include a demo. If I'm using this service I'd want to know how the blog looks like. 2. The gif doesn't really look smooth. Maybe consider using a low-quality mp4.

This is something I'd personally use. A lot of alternatives exist on the market but none of them look as refined as Paper. Paper looks really similar to http://onword.co (by Daniel Eden at Dropbox) regarding the minimalism

Interesting how you consider it ego-bolstering. Can't you just ignore the leaderboard? It seems a lot of effort goes into making this tutorial. The guy working on it seems to be running a business. Although it can be done without requi

Questions: 1. On your dev machine, if you are using 4.x, should you keep updating to the newest 4.x version or stay with this version? 2. If you keep updating and use a version manager like nvm, is there an easy way to install global packag

I'm using command-t and it works fine for me even in large code base. AFAIK, ag shines for searching code in large code base, if you are just doing matching with a list of file paths, ag is an overkill. EDIT: And if you set `wildignore

Microsoft feels like the new Apple to me. I haven't used Apple's product in Jobs' era, but I've heard a lot of good stories about how solid and easy-to-use their software was. Now I'm on Yosemite, experiencing annoy

I also like stateless function components. If you are using Redux, all the state management can be done at Redux side and you can make all React components stateless. And they become even easier to write after this release.

I'd be really interested in data from China and Japan. China has one of the fastest growing tech industry in the world. As for Japan, I really want to live there because of the high quality of life, but am hesitant since the tech indus

I know this is not closely related to the post, but this really got me worried: and I was quite surprised how little “desktop” focus there is in the spec. It’s like the design team simply have forgotten that we have this thing called a “de

From personal experience I'll just use ES6. It's not about the HTML-like JSX part using ES6 or using native classes to extend React.component(with limitations), but simpler object literals, fat arrows and { foo: foo } becoming { f

Congrats! I started using Atom a year ago, but at that time it was very unstable and the performance sucks so I switched back to Vim. This 1.0 still has something to pine for: some of the essential packages are still not updated for the 1.0

Surprisingly, VS Code handles large files quite well. Just tested it on my Mac opening an uncompressed ember.js (~1.5MB). The file loads instantly and syntax highlighting is done in less than 1 sec. Movement and editing are very responsive.
