I find this discouraging: To install Windows 8 Pro, customers must be running Windows XP SP3, Windows Vista, or Windows 7. If you would like to upgrade from Windows 8 to Windows 8 Pro, click here. What if I want to install Windows 8 in a

I suppose you are talking about IronPython, because there is no way you could "compile" CPython, if yes, Mono can be integrated with IronPython: http://www.mono-project.com/Python

Have you tried VS2012 ? Give it a try for C++ and you will see that the autocomplete works great.

This is apparently true for VS2012 + Win7, at least from my tests. On a quad-core machine the max numbers of threads spawned by std::async is 10.

Obviously you will write faster code if you use directly OS functions, but your code will be less portable.

std::async is included in the C++11 standard. The number of threads that async will use is implementation dependent, I bet on Windows with VS2012 you will see a different number of threads. You could force async to run asynchronously or in

Actually it makes sense, if you manually force the code to use only 4 threads it will take more time to finish that in the case when you let the compiler split the work for you. On a given machine there are hundreds of threads running concu

Adding a keyboard and a mouse to an iPad will make this non portable (at least for me). If you really need a keyboard and a small device I think buying a Mac Book Air 11' is a much better choice.

You are right about the Pyhton's C API. However I've found that I can use any C (or C++ 2003) library through the cppyy branch.

The stable PyPy version is provided as a binary. In principle you will need to compile this from sources only if you have special needs. Have a look here (binaries for Mac, Linux and Windows): http://pypy.org/download.html#default-with-a-j

The donation step is optional, so I see no "ethical" dilema here. If you can afford to donate some money to the project you could do it. If not, no problem you should use the product as you see fit. I suspect that most Ubuntu users can dona
