No offense intended... but I don't understand you, or people like you. The upgraded version is better in every imaginable way. It's like you have a dirty old Honda Civic in your driveway, and someone is offering you a brand new 3 series BMW

It usually takes me about a tenth of a second to hit Control+C, Control+K in emacs, but the file is compiled and loaded into the running Lisp image much quicker than that. Sometimes, I have to recompile several files due to a modified macro

Graphics drivers on Linux have a long ways to go before they need to worry about things like this. I can't even run a composited desktop on my Radeon HD 6310 without tearing, video corruption, horizontal black and white bars and unrecoverab

The virtual machine isn't guaranteed to work: http://www.zdnet.co.uk/news/security-threats/2009/06/09/virt... Unless you know exactly what it can do, you should probably run it on an old machine without [direct] internet access.

What does this gain you? It doesn't matter what the version number is, so why not make it a simple integer? Version numbers aren't a way to communicate feature changes, you do that in release notes. Your attitude towards version numbers is

The kernel is not some almighty bug free program. The question is then just whether or not the person who has gained the capacity to run code on your system knows an exploit that will give them root privileges. The Android thing works becau

People who say Windows is insecure aren't comparing it to Flash or Java, they are comparing it to OS X, Linux, or *BSD. Without addressing that comparison, this article is useless.

Physics is far more empirical than economics, which is actually saying something, considering how little we actually know about physics. Economics is more like politics, if politicians were any good at math.

1. Why do you need to extract forename+surname? The assumption that your users will even have a forename and a surname is invalid. [ http://www.kalzumeus.com/2010/06/17/falsehoods-programmers-b... ] 2. There are exactly 50 states, so 50 nam

Linux has been around for long enough that there isn't much Microsoft could do to seriously threaten it (besides releasing a hacker friendly version of Windows with an unrestricted, cross platform C/C++ compiler).

Why? Can't you just bail on whatever you are currently doing? How is the entire process compromised by a failed malloc? Resources are limited, sort of by definition, shouldn't good code be able to handle this possibility?
