What do you mean "bring down the quality"? This graph is misleading because it shows number of posts as a percentage, not an absolute number. I'm sure there is just as much or more quality content in r/programming and ot

Actually I'd trust Boingo more than Facebook as a platform. They've been around since 2001, Facebook since 2004.

If your business depends on WiFi (e.g. Coffee Shop), this could potentially hurt business. Only ~50-70% of US Internet users use Facebook and that is dropping. As a business owner I'd be concerned about alienation. Facebook is far from

This article is all over the place... They cite the transition to a service-based economy a good match for Agile (Which is a problem in itself). Unfortunately we don't live in that utopian vision. For example, it would be quite unreaso

Nail on the head. We live in a bizarre world where everyone that founds a startup is often a credentialed, healthy Stanford grad re-implementing an unremarkable idea in network effects. Is it mobile or social? No? You might as well get on t

None of the above. Run pfSense on an old x86 box and you'll end up with something an order of magnitude better. As far as an access point goes I'd suggest going with ubiquiti gear if it's in your budget.

Probably not. Amazon has intentionally crippled external replication in MySQL for years now. It's a form of vendor lock-in and you shouldn't support it. Without replication it's impossible to migrate out of RDS without taking

FYI RDS is no longer HIPAA compliant following the latest Omnibus legislation. You need to be running dedicated instances inside of VPC with your own DB install.

You're kidding right? I'd wager that a huge number of MySQL users are using replication. Running a single database in a production environment is totally unacceptable and a major business continuity problem.

Not really, "Big Data" has nothing to do with how many bytes you're pushing around. Some types of data analytics are CPU heavy and require distributed resources. Your comment about 10G isn't true. You can move around a T
