I've had the new settings app get stuck and become unable to interact with. Not to mention all the missing settings that the old control panel still hangs on to.

I'm concerned that the increased occurrence of gallium (in the liquid state) in consumer devices could represent a sort of warranty time bomb. It's not supposed to leak out, and there isn't much of it, but if it does, you hav

What kind of board specs do you typically deal with? This can have a significant effect on leadtime and who you ultimately decide to deal with. If you just need a lot of unique double-sided boards to play around with in "alpha" an

Smart features like this seem to assume a connection to the grid based on location information. What if the device is connected to a microgrid? Is that configurable?

Why not use a tunnel like Wireguard so that you don't need an IP filter on the rental box side? That way if your home public IP is reassigned you don't have so much work to do. Bonus encryption for DNS traffic, too.

The curvature is quite small but is responsible for orbital motion in the steady state condition. I don't think the parent comment was suggesting that space would "curve into a circle" unless you are implying something else s

What would make more sense, but is harder to do, is to use bridge filtering instead of assigning unique VLANs per device.

There's no question that Bitcoin, and systems that copy its design more or less exactly, operate in more of a pseudonymous manner than anonymous. Projects like Monero and Zcash are actually attempting to be anonymous, but they don'

The flipside is, which alarm bells should be rung? At the time there was not much concern over the other more popular curves being backdoored, and now there is. Some people have switched curves because they saw Bitcoin use another curve. Ma

If you read the proposed rule, there is mention of tamper resistance requirements and compliance with third party standards which were previously not enforced. It does seem a bit concerning. For example: (f) Tamper resistance. (1) A portabl

50 Hz generators are exempt for some reason. Those can be perfectly usable with a variety of loads such as a home server lab... I suppose that anybody running the generator properly would have to add a fan to the generator in order to reduc

Or some kind of mode on the GPU that reduces performance slightly to stay within the slot-only power limit. Cards already do power limiting, I wonder how easy this would be.

It could be even faster if manufacturers would standardize on modular connector pinouts. You could do half the unplugging. Unfortunately there is not really any compatibility between modular cables, to the point of being partly responsible

I could get behind this idea. Open Compute has a 48 volt rack specification, negative 48V is common in telecom since forever, PoE standards use roughly 48V, and 48V is at the upper limit of what's often considered "safe" by v

There is a way to solve this with optical but the cost is still high and it's not terribly compact. Usually you can only get 4 lanes directly into one optic. Most implementations I have seen rely on a 2-port PCIe packet switch chip, an

PC power supplies can be in the 2200W range already. What's wrong with that? The external power you're talking about would be like 1 volt at hundreds of amps. What's the point of that? The connector and cable would be huge, t
