That is true, but the rapid change in the tech industry makes "skills" mean something different than it would in, say, woodworking. Once you learn woodwoorking, you're going to be good at it (until you lose strength, flexibil

I don't disagree with the sentiment, but I do believe that Americans ability to cooperate (both with each other in general and between the private and public sectors) is not now what it was in the mid-20th century.

I am not a computer vision specialist, but I wanted to add an anecdote from years of parenting. One thing that amazed me about babies was how early they understand line drawings. Long before a baby can talk, it knows what a dog is (and ca

LOL. I meant it's not normal to start selling a feature in 2016 and delivering it in beta seven years later.

Reminds me of the (possibly apocryphal) monitoring that was in place when Healthcare.gov was launched: they had a TV tuned to the news, and the news would tell them whenever the site crashed!

I did it wrong! In the middle one, I didn't make a heart -- I went to and fro both on the left side, so it ended up looking more like a backwards question mark than a heart!

I think of Envoy as both a client side and server side proxy. Typically (in the past) both client and server have been VMs or containers. Client side it can do things like automatic retries, routing decisions and fault injection (among othe

It's weird, though, right? I mean, flip the logic. What if someone had a code of conduct that was clearly about people treating each other well...but started it with "First, you must acknowledge that there is no God." Or &quo

Interesting. I would have thought that you do it by (expected) lifetime of the panels. I haven't had my system for a full year yet so I don't have complete numbers, but it seems to be anywhere from .5 (winter) to 1.1 MWh per month

The other thing to bear in mind: I would guess that the vast majority of accidents are caused by people not paying attention -- distracted by a phone, person, great view, or even just because they're looking the wrong direction. Cars d

You know what I've always wondered? How did they pronounce each number? I mean, I read it "eye, eye-eye, eye-eye-eye, eye-vee, vee, vee-eye." But of course, there's no way they actually said it that way. Right? Right
