It's interesting that dogs are seen as the more practical, helpful pet. And certainly for much of history, that was true. However, in a modern, urban environment, I'd say the situation has reversed. Apart from the intangible, emot

Not sure why the parent is being downvoted. More detail of what happened would surely be informative. Ideally including the perspective of the arresting officer. Why were they pulled over? Why did he suspect they were in the country illegal

I guess the moral of this story is, if you're about to get on the bus, make sure you have enough battery left on your phone to last until you reach your destination. I use my phone to pay for a bus ticket every day, but I only have to

From a user's standpoint, the main noticeable change has been the steady decline in the quality and amount of food included in the box (along with increasing simplification of the recipes). In the early days, you'd definitely get

That is a rather rare case. It's overwhelmingly the case that plastic gets recycled (if at all) into a lower grade and then can't be recycled again. https://www.cnbc.com/2017/04/24/almost-no-plastic-

This seems like great, practical advice. I usually get to step 2, documentation (however minimal) and command-line parameters. This inspires me to go the next step and add proper logging (instead of print statements) and unit tests as well.

Whenever I read articles like this, a couple of questions come to mind. Cumulative probability of being struck by one of these things within next 10, 20, etc. years? What would we do if we did see one coming that was going to strike earth g

That's a good example of how the lies of art can create a greater truth. It's rare to see all the big corporate logos superimposed on different parts of the field of view, rather like the sponsorship patches on the jacket of a NAS

There's a case to be made that flattening a list is not a common enough operation to justify a built-in keyword or even a method on the standard library list class. The Pythonic way seems to be that if you can write something with a si

Obviously it's absurd to think not everyone is conscious the same way we are, but I don't think you need to assert that for the hard problem of consciousness to exist. It's enough that I (whoever I am) am conscious, and no on

That's an interesting idea though it's hard to see how it would work in practice. In practice, our scientific concepts are ultimately grounded in observational data, data accessible to a conscious observer. I don't see how sc

I agree with the sentiment of the article, though I don't really like the example given. To me, using a switch statement instead of if-else-if is not any clearer.
