Heard this on NPR? It almost sounded like an endorsement for crypto by NPR — that it was a way for minorities to come out shed versus traditional banking. Very odd piece for such speculative investment tool.

Well even if you “own” your home, you are renting it from your municipality. See what happens if you don’t pay property taxes (or civil rents).

As the sole shareholder, does that mean he is reaping all the profits? It sounds like they had millions in profits from the article? That is quite a niche for a small company to carve out, when their competitors are stripe etc

Yeah O365 is not same as Standalone Office 2019. First off his version would not include outlook at that price point. Second, the 2TB storage and mail service (and maybe personal domain?) is part of the value.

I’ve read that you aren’t supposed to use iCloud photos on a NAS (which is heck of a problem with the small SSD drives in MacBooks these days)

Prop 13 has distorted housing market in Californian by fixing taxes; I could imagine extraordinarily low fixed rates would act similarly.

If all the exchanges lock users out, you can “transact” with BTC But can you convert it into US dollars? Where does one spend BTC these days, buy some furniture off overstock?

Isn’t this one of cited reasons for a lack of diversity in VC funded founders — they invest in a founder as a person and their team, thus biased by personal relations, rather than the merits and details of the actual business plan?

I highly recommend Google Voice or similar VOIP for all commercial services. That may help reduce spam to your mobile and Google Voice has filtering of spam built in (unsure of quality).

That’s surprising, I thought apple provided iOS updates and security updates much longer than Android phones — i thought there was some issues where Googles update had to be pushed by the manufacturer and they tend to drop support much soon

Smallpox vaccine is contagious (live virus varicella I think) and can have awful side effects (full body blisters, death) for people with eczema which is far more common. Even without exzema, side effects are hard.

So sad to hear Mariah disparaged. I’m an Gen X engineer and Matlab is one of our first languages. Use it today still in aerospace but I would imagine Python suits software shops much better. Does Python handle matrix math as well?

I guess I’m just old but when I started in 90s many people where in IT because it was cool tech, not really motivated by the money. Did that all wash away in dot.com or more recently?
