My daughter has missed 10 days of school because of a lingering cough even when not actively sick. She doesn’t sleep well and teachers now consider her disruptive if coughing in class. I think th expectation is no longer to go to school wit

What is her background, how did she make all this money — from slime. I can’t imagine Brin gave her that much cash as they weren’t married 10 years which is the CA cutoff, and allegedly she had the affair.

Gmail succeeded because it innovated on the storage amount; before Gmail I think you had like 500MB in Hotmail and it was whack a mol clearing it under quota. What is the innovation that zoom is introducing, and will it have same value?

This was my first thought as well. Isn’t there another truism, where something advances to a common end state?

My Surface Laptop from 2019 wasn’t supported by Win11 because of TPM limitation (I guess there was a registry hack) but I expect the requirements for Win11 were defined by 2019 for its 2021 release, yet they skimmed on a very expensive pros

How did you transition from govt work back into tech. Ive made some efforts but never seem to be able to bridge it.

Let’s be honest, a lot of time with kids is quite boring. Dads reading the newspaper at the table has been a a thing forever. Moms reading a book, crocheting, or doing dishes/cooking while interacting with kids was common. In the 80s,

I sympathize with your perspective, when most programmers were really nerds was a magical time. I do wonder if we are indulging in an “eternal September” mindset though.

Interesting you don’t mention a huge option that opened up after 2001 — govt/defense work. There was a huge ramp up in military spending in the 2000s and it was still “tech” work, albeit often of the more “move slow, change incremental

Sardines are awesome, they make boneless skinless fillet now which substitute well for tuna (I seem to always get a bone stuck in a tooth so prefer no bones despite being tasty). That said, sushi from sardines seems dicey.

Oh I think one big factor is it was a 1 mile walk in 32C degrees and swampy high humidity. It wasn’t a couple of bags, it was a cart of about 4 bags at least, including a gallon of milk, often including bags of flour, eggs, etc. https:&#x2
